40-Hour Basic Mediation Training - Second Session

Whether you desire a career as a mediator or seek key skills necessary to facilitate interpersonal conflict resolution, you will find this course invaluable.

This course introduces the theory of mediation and the nature of conflict using the most innovative and effective techniques in the industry. Using the essential skills gained in this class, participants will be able to assist individuals in conflict to discover positive, meaningful resolutions.

COURSE TOPICS

  • Understanding the nature of conflict
  • Neuroscience techniques that improve conflict management and communication
  • The theory and anatomy of the mediation process and other methods of alternative dispute resolution
  • Communication techniques including listening, reframing and explorative questioning
  • Mediation strategies including negotiation, effective agreement formatting, getting beyond impasses and relieving stress and tension
  • The value of apologies and forgiveness
  • Theoretical and situational mediation ethics

COURSE RESULTS

  • Successfully identify interests and positions and move parties towards resolutions
  • Thoroughly understand the steps, processes and dynamics of mediation
  • Quickly and effectively gain party’s trust and diffuse negative emotions

Who Should Attend

Supervisors, team leaders, team members, or anyone with the desire to become a professional mediator. This course fulfills the Idaho Mediation Association requirements for 40 hours of basic mediation training which includes at least 30% mediation practice via learning exercises or role-play simulations of mediated disputes.

Presenter

Carol Rodriguez, CPM – Carol Rodriguez is a renowned mediator and neuro peak performance specialist. She graduated summa cum laude from Jones International University with a BBA in global leadership and influence and a MBA in negotiation and conflict management. She is the mediation services coordinator for Idaho’s largest district court, serves on the Idaho Mediation Association board and teaches neuroscience, conflict resolution, nonverbal communication and leadership at Boise State University. Her associations with some of the world’s top neuroscientists inform her highly successful and cutting-edge approach to mediation.
