The Section of Dispute Resolution is excited to partner with the Washington State Bar Association ADR Section and University of Washington School of Law for our 17th Annual Spring Conference, in Seattle, WA April 16-18, 2015. As you may know, instead of hosting the acclaimed Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference, the Washington State Bar Association ADR Section and University of Washington School of Law, have partnered with the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution to host our Spring Conference. We hope you attend the conference which will feature over 100 educational and networking programs covering every imaginable topic in the dispute resolution field. Each year the Section strives to offer our attendees an engaging, yet professionally rewarding, experience. This year is no different, and promises three days of educational enrichment that will expand the practice of dispute resolution.

Stress, Mediation, and the Brain Science of Grief Counseling
Image removed by sender.This is a three-part lecture on the neuroscience behind perceptions of stress. John Medina will discuss and explain how the brain responds to stress; the concept of Theory of Mind; grief counseling; and how new approaches to counselingma y be relevant to moder mediation practice. John Medina is an affiliate professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Medina is also a private research consultant, working primarily in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries on issues related to mental health. Prior to his current research and teaching, Medina served as the founding director for the Talaris Research Institute, a Seattle- based research center originally focused on how infants encode and process information at the cognitive, cellular, and molecular levels.
